In Western NY:

On the Refuge and State properties, Friends of Iroquois volunteers have counted 812 Purple Martin eggs laid so far. Last year's hatched birds have arrived and continued to show up through the week of June 24th. Keep your eyes open for green-banded Purple Martins. Call Carl Zenger at 585-948-5445 extension 7057 or email the address below if you have a green-banded Purple Martin to report.

The New York State Purple Martin Project is a collaborative effort of partners educating citizens in the conservation of Purple Martins, with the goal of increasing the declining Purple Martin populations throughout New York State.

UPDATE (Aug 13, 2018) at the Purple Martin nest checks from our FINWR sites at Iroquois Job Corp, Iroquois NWR Headquarters, Tonawanda SWMA Tops Pond, Mud Creek Marsh and Oak Orchard SWMA Goose Pond, we have these FINAL totals to report.

We have registered a number of martin landlords around the state and are always looking for more landlords to register.
